Every angler fishing the Elite Series understands how much time and effort it takes to be successful, and Hallman — citing among other things a desire to be more connected to his family — decided that this lifestyle was no longer a fit.

Two Michigan collegiate anglers win 2023 Helen Sevier Pioneer Scholarships

B.A.S.S. and Shimano have partnered to award the second annual Helen Sevier Pioneer Scholarships to Central Michigan University angler Alina Krasinski of Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Southwestern Michigan College competitor Delaney Platt of Braceville, Ill. These scholarships not only honor Sevier’s leadership and long-term vision for the growth of sportfishing, but also recognize the efforts of young female anglers as they pursue fishing at the collegiate level.

Registration for 2023 Bassmaster High School Combine opens April 18

The Bassmaster High School Combine presented by Skeeter returns to Wheeler Lake in Decatur, Ala., Sept. 15-17 for a weekend combining skills challenges and recruiting visits in hopes of reeling in college fishing scholarship money. The first Combine netted more than $2.6 million in scholarship offers, with tallies for the second event still pouring in as athletes sign with teams from a variety of schools.
